Beth Cosner is a Kansas City native. Often described as small but mighty, she operates her one woman studio, Beth Cosner Designs, in Leawood, Kansas. Drawing inspiration from the ocean, the colors of her garden and her extensive 20+ year collection of raw materials, Beth creates “wearable art” jewelry.

With expert craftsmanship, Beth incorporates semi-precious and precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, crystal, sterling silver and 14K gold-filled metal. She enjoys the challenge of combining various materials to create innovative designs for personal adornment. She may even introduce surprise elements of leather, vintage lucite or antique buttons. Her timeless designs are unified by color, texture and balance through both symmetrical and asymmetrical designs.

Beth received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design with an emphasis in Metalsmithing from the University of Kansas. While at KU, she enrolled in a study abroad program in Florence, Italy. Immersing herself in a new culture, she studied jewelry fabrication and art history. More training included a jewelry mechanisms workshop at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine.

At the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California, Beth received her Graduate Jeweler Diploma. While at GIA, she completed additional coursework in wax carving, casting, mold-cutting and advanced stone setting.

Merging her design background from KU with her technical education from GIA formed the perfect combination to begin her own jewelry business, Beth Cosner Designs. Over the course of her career, Beth’s work has been represented in galleries and stores from coast to coast and regional art shows.
