Born and raised in southern Florida, Debbie began her artistic journey with her first award winning “Floppy Flower” in the first grade. She knew immediately that her soul was touched by the smells and texture of paint and all that it could create. Boating with her father through the canals put her in touch with the vibrancy of the colors of the sky and water, the green marshes and all living creatures, stirring her curiosity and imagination. She would spend countless hours in her garage with her favorite childhood toy, “The Super Elastic Bubble Plastic Maker”, blowing liquid plastic through a straw to make beautiful creations of color that would meld together in all sorts of varying patterns. She was hooked on color. She states, “I don’t have enough time to paint all the paintings in my mind.” She paints a range of subject matter, refusing to be boxed in as a certain type of artist but always leaving her signature layering of texture and color. She is on a constant exploration to quench her curious intuition, making art that stirs emotion and imagination in others.

After moving to Georgia, receiving her degree in Physical Therapy and a long and successful career, she made the decision to pursue her lifelong dream of being an artist full-time. She is mostly self-taught, taking two years off to immerse herself with mentorships and instruction from local and international award-winning artists.

Today, she works daily in her Atlanta studio. Her works range from abstract to more impressionistic, working in a variety of mixed media, always exercising her curiosity with new mediums or tools. “It is the process, the dance between the art itself and my tools that keep me hooked...as if I am back in my garage, blowing different creations and endless possibilities.”

Debbie has exhibited in juried shows at the Grandview Avenue Gallery, as well as being juried into the American Impressionist Society’s online exhibition. She was chosen to participate in the international M.A.D.S. Art Gallery’s “Philo-Poem” exhibition in Milano. In November 2021, her work was chosen from over 3,000 entries, along with 200 others, to participate in the international ACA competition. Her work has been sold throughout the United States with many private commissions done.
