Monica Eugenia Moro

Monica Eugenia Moro, visual artist born in Buenos Aires in 1977 has lived in the city of Mar de Plata for more than 20 years.

She studied Arts, Teaching and Illustration at the Martin Malharro Higher School of Visual Arts and perfected her watercolor technique with Pablo Menicucci and Carlos Nine.

She specialized in children’s illustration and Sacred art, a period in which she worked on a large scale between volume sculpture and muralism.

She began teaching by giving workshops for children; currently, she does it exclusively for adults. Parallel to her own work, based specifically on the pictorial, her work includes commissioned works such as mural work and set design.

Since 1999 she has been working non-stop on her production, participating in exhibitions and fairs. Her work is part of private collections.

In my work there is an attempt to defy space, leaving details behind, bending the straight and disciplined line into a serpentine, blurred line, which can only be interpreted as an allusion to the organic. I prefer what is fresh and authentic, without straight structures or rigid blocks or full planes, making use of shapes and a wide range of colours. I am interested in establishing a direct relationship with painting, removing it from any reference. Consequently, the work is developed under a constant search, never stagnant, where change is, in my opinion, part of evolution and a decision to sustain that space of freedom.
