J. Morgan was born in Seoul, Korea in 1958. Beginning early in life to show an interest in art, Morgan began with pencil sketches. He studied at Yoo-Jin in 1977 and soon developed his style and technique toward landscapes and flower fields in brilliant color and deep texture with colorful impressionism. He draws inspiration from his travels throughout Europe. He enjoys painting the poppy fields in Tuscany, lavender fields in France and the street scenes in Paris. Morgan considers himself a colorist. The vista is his subject and the canvas is his playground, changing matter into significant form. “I love the physical process as well as the creative, seeing the painting develop on the canvas — I relish in the intellectual challenge.”

Morgan is happily married with his wife and has a daughter. He enjoys competitive chess and computer games. While Morgan says that he loves the physicality of painting, he thinks that designing a computer game would be an interesting challenge for him someday. His works are considered decorative and his intent is to engage the viewer. “I hope the viewer will feel a new enthusiasm for life.”

J. Morgan’s works have been established in many corporate and private collections around the world.
