ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Beth Cosner is a jewelry artist, born and raised in Kansas City. Often described as small but mighty, she operates her one-woman studio, Beth Cosner Designs, in Leawood. Drawing inspiration from the ocean, the colors of her garden and her extensive 20+ year collection of raw materials, Beth creates “wearable art” jewelry.

Her colorful designs often showcase a unique raw material. Her jewelry combines elements, such as semi-precious and precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, leather, vintage lucite, antique buttons, Swarovski crystal, steriling silver & 14K gold-filled metal. With expert craftsmanship, her timeless and refined creations are unifed by her use of color, texture and balance through both symmetrical and assymetical designs. Beth enjoys the challenge of taking materials that may be simple on their own and combining them together for a new unusual design for personal adornment.

Beth received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design with an emphasis in Metalsmithing from the University of Kansas. She went on to receive a Graduate Jeweler Diploma from the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, CA. While at GIA, she also studied wax carving, casting, mold-cutting and advanced stone setting.

Beth finds her best designs emerge from the quietness of her studio space, where all creativity has no boundaries.

“I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I use my hands and my mind to create an object of beauty that leaves my unique mark in this world.” Beth Cosner
