Paola Muzio Saldes

I was born in Vina del Mar, Chile on October 8, 1963. From a very young age my father, an architect, introduced me into the art’s world. Pencils, brushes, colors, and creative work were part of my family environment.

This led me to study industrial graphic design at the university in Valparaiso in Chile. There, I was able to develop my passion for art and drawing and learning from very professional teachers. In 1986 I did my degree project on the life and work of a great Chilean artist, Nemesio Antunez, with whom I later took painting classes.

Then, in 1987 I won a scholarship to study in “Universita Degli Studi di Genova”, Santa Margherita, Genova, Italy. Europe and the personal contact with classics and contemporary masterpieces inspired me to develop my own work art.

Back from Italy, I worked in an advertising company as a graphic designer. Between 1986 and the nineties, I began to paint my first artworks. I participated in different exhibitions all over the country and some collective exhibitions in Chile where two art pieces were selected for the Valparaiso Art Biennial.

I am married, and I have two sons and two daughters. For a few years, I took a break from professional painting because I gave some art classes and I worked in design.

In 2015, I took up professional painting again. Since then, I am inspired by nature and the sea. Through different techniques, I capture the optimistic energy that the diversity of colors, lights and shapes gives me. Color plays an important role in my artworks. It is entrusted the task of conveying concepts and feelings.
