Goldsmith and Sculptor Reno Carollo has spent his life living and creating art in Colorado. He attended the University of Northern Colorado and received a B.A. in Fine Arts and Arts Education. While at the University, he attended an exchange program with the Academy of Fine Art in Florence, Italy at the La Poggerinna campus. This experience had a profound influence on his artwork.
After graduating and teaching in the Denver Public Schools for a few years, Reno opened his studios in jewelry and sculpture in Denver. For Reno, the only difference between Jewelry and Sculpture is scale. As an artist entrepreneur, Reno owned and operated a retail jewelry gallery in Denver for 20 years while maintaining a sculpture studio. He attended many jewelry trade shows, art shows, and conferences as well as workshops to further his education. Along the way he has worked with, and learned from, many fine artist, artist assistants, and craftsman.
Reno began his professional art career by producing custom jewelry art for clients as well as developing a small body of designer jewelry work to sell in galleries and at trade shows. He attended many jewelry workshops to learn more about the art of making jewelry.
He began producing sculpture professionally after attending the first Marble Marble workshop/symposium in Marble, Colorado hosted by the Arts Students League of Denver. Here he learned the art of carving stone. Several years later he had the opportunity to study stone carving in Pietrasanta, Italy. As education and experience are very important to him, he worked at a local foundry for a while to learn the art of working bronze.
Reno is currently working on new bodies of artwork. In jewelry he is preparing a new collection, in sculpture he is working on new dancers in bronze and fiberglass, and he is painting as well as creating light canvases with LED lights.
His work is seen in many private collections here in the US and abroad, as well as in several galleries across the country.
